Creative Critical Reflection Blog: Music Video
- Like other music videos, my project gives credit to the artist and the song that is currently featured. Usually, this information is presented either before or after the music video. Rather than following the typical use of dancing and singing, I chose to develop my video similar to Katy Perry's hit song "Last Friday Night." This music video inspired me to make my project comedic in relation to the song I chose. Moreover, there are very few music videos that cover music without lyrics. I'm quiet fond of instrumentals or groovy beats that influence me to get down. However, one thing that I noticed in the music industry is that a lot of these songs don't come with a visual music video. how else will the viewer know the artist true tone behind their music. Thus, I suggest more creators of beats and instrumentals should have the opportunity to express their music further through visualization.
- Personally, my project engages with the audience with a sense of wacky fun and light comedy. While the story itself can be entertaining to watch, the music played throughout the video could influence anyone to get down and dance. Also, I believe that the audience can relate to the main character since we all experienced a wacky dream at some point in our lives. To continue, because this is a music video, I believe YouTube will be the best media platform to support my project. Evidently, YouTube holds more music videos in it's media platform than TV or radio platforms.
- With the time limit extended to one minute for this project, I was able to practice my directing skills a lot more. Not to mention, I got my first hands on experience with acting. Being the main character of my film had to be my favorite part of the project. However, creating my own effects for the first time was really interesting to me. I hope to explore that more along the way when the next project comes around. That concept of editing is something I really hope to better my skills
- For my music video I used iMovie to edit all of my scenes. This editing software provided all of the transitions, filters, and text in my video. For one scene in specific, I utilized my Instagram page to post the wanted photo of the antagonist. Moreover, in order to create my own effects, I downloaded a green screen and added all of my custom made text bubbles into it. That way I could implement my effects to the video.
