Research blog: Music Video Convention
In my music video, I chose to use an upbeat song that would both entertain the audience and urge them to groove out with the main character as the story progresses. In most cases, this is how music videos are set-up to appeal to the viewers attention.
- Costumes in Upbeat Music Videos usually contain a variety of clothing because most shots are set-up with multiple transitions throughout each scene. The events in the video can either be seen as a montage or change in setting. This usually signals a costume change during the video.
- Props include jewelry, vehicles, Food, drinks, lights, and so on
- The Appearance of actors in upbeat music videos are typically joyous, with quality outfits to show off. Body types are predominantly Slim or fit for dancing scenes. Overall, everyone is looking their absolute best such as hair, skin care, etc.
- The music almost always matches up with the camera movements and scenes that take place. This is the key feature that entertains the audience. The film entertains while the music urges the viewer to dance along.
- Dancing and partying is extremely common in upbeat music videos, especially with the main character dancing with other people.
- Sometimes Upbeat music videos like "24k Magic" and "Last Friday Night" show the title of the song and the producer in the beginning of the music video.
- Music video target audiences through pathos. It motivates them to dance or party just like the people in the music video.
